I can't be a brewer if I don't make beer
So, I decided that my next homebrew would be a Bass ale clone. I know, copying someone else's recipe isn't all that creative, but some say that it's the sincerest form of flattery. While I don't agree with Europeans on most everything, they do make some tasty beers over there. I set out searching far and wide across the realm of the internet. I found many recipes claiming to be clones. Well, they all used malt extract. Yeah, I doubt that the blokes over at Bass bust out the extract for their brews. Forget you, internet bums, I'm making my own recipe! So, I pulled out my book on designing beers(thank you parents) and looked up English pale ales, of which Bass is one. I figured out what grains, hops & yeast I needed to match the style and then bought the stuff at my favorite homebrew supply store. I'll do the brew this weekend. This, of course, won't be a clone, since I'm brewing to the style right now, but it's a start. I can figure out what to change to emulate Bass better. But, who knows? Perhaps I'll like mine more than theirs...
