So, I read an article in the Sacto Bee that the CA supreme court is going to review a lower court's decision that marriage is exclusively between a man and a woman.
Naturally, those on the right claim that homosexual marriage is an attack on society and the sanctity of marriage. Those on the left claim that it is discrimination not to allow homosexual marriage.
Here's my take on the topic.
I see no discrimination. Under current law, no person may marry another person of the same gender. The law doesn't say that only heterosexuals can get married. It says that marriage is btwn a man and a woman. So, the way I read it, anyone can get married and the same restrictions apply to everyone. Can it be discrimination when it applies to everyone?
As far as the attack on society...I see it more as a societal-wide suicide. The last time that I checked, it took a man and a woman to make a kid. No kids = no society. Of course, now that we have high-tech turkey basters and everyone whoring themselves out to make babies for others, perhaps this suicide will be slowed into an agonizing, painful death.
