Problems with the perfect job

So, I've been thinking about a 'problem' at work. While I have a ball working in the development lab, there is one shortcoming. The vast, vast majority of the stuff I make never actually goes into use. It's all for development, testing, evaluation, etc... None of my work gets to launch satellites or rid the world of terrorists... But, I think that I'd rather stay in the lab, knowing that my work helps other people do the cool stuff, than going into a production environment.
